Becoming familiar with musical intervals.
If you visit the website below you will be able to listen to different intervals by clicking on one of the three sets of musical notation - I suggest the middle one.
Don’t worry about the notation at the moment just try to be able to recognise the interval and try to sing it.

To start with we will consider the octave, and then the perfect fourth, perfect fifth and the major third in successive weeks.
Don’t forget to get a good list of tunes that start with the interval. The ones on the web site are not very exhaustive.

This Group shares the joy and fun of singing together and encourages anyone to join it.

Men and women are equally welcome and previous singing experience is unimportant - you could be a member of a choir, someone who enjoys singing socially, someone whose only singing experience is karaoke or singing in the shower (!) or even someone who considers that you can't sing at all (we hope to prove you wrong!)

The group meets in Church House by Wimborne Minster Church at 2:00 pm on Wednesdays.

The musical interests of members includes singing songs from the shows, folk songs,

Christmas carols, popular songs - in fact, almost anything!

The Leaders are both keen amateur musicians.

One currently sings in Wimborne Minster choir and the Wessex Singers;

the other sings in the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus.

Piano/keyboard and backing tracks accompany our singing, in sessions of around one hour.

Music and lyrics are projected from a computer and are also available for viewing and printing

from this page.

The emphasis is on enjoyment and singing with others -

these are definitely not formal singing lessons!

From time to time we will be including items on this web page that might be of use to our members.
As well as this information sheet, you may well find:

Music Scores – these will have the score for whole song, or parts of it, and will usually be pdf files, that can be opened with Adobe Reader or equivalent

Sound Files – these contain a sound version of the song, and should play automatically on a computer, using Windows Media Player or equivalent; you may also be able to transfer them to an MP3 player (iPod etc)

Other information –  other items that might be of interest, for instance our current work with musical intervals.
