Come in and join us and more importantly ... Join in!!

Although we have an inability to be fully operational currently due to the Covid-19 Virus which is curtailing all of us at this time, it’s important you know that we are still here. The Committee are still working behind the scenes to ensure that when the “New Normal” finally arrives, we can proceed with an exciting programme for our members delivered by motivated Convenors for the benefit of the whole U3A. We currently offer a wide range of activities with both physical and mental agility providing over 70 groups as you can see on the Group Programme installed on our Website. We are always looking to recruit new members to join us, especially if they have just recently retired and are looking for new challenges, we certainly have the answer within. Of course you don’t have to be retired to be able to join, you may still be working part time but are looking to use your free time on some new experiences. There is a wide variety of topics covered in our Programme and within our Newsletters which are illustrated and sent out to our members each term.

Of course, there are also always opportunities to join the U3A Committee and with your life/work experiences you may want to help us by bringing new and fresh ideas to our environment, this can be done by working alongside the Committee in a helpful way without necessarily taking on a role, it’s certainly a very good way to see how we work, and you would be a valuable helper.

The essential thing is to enjoy it, have fun, make new friends, learn some new topics, every new member will have something different and exciting to give. Life long learning boosts mental capital, which in turn builds individual resilience in later life. It gives friendships, connections and confidence whilst enjoying new challenges and experiences, with time and freedom to enjoy!

We would love to say Welcome to you, there is no pressure or qualifications required to join the U3A, and I am sure that you would really enjoy some of the many opportunities that we can offer you as a new member of Wimborne U3A.
