This group developed from Discovering Wessex,
to accommodate the additional demand.
A similar format is followed, whereby each member of the group takes a turn to choose a place or location; carries out research on their choice and shares this with the group on our “in” weeks. This is followed up by a visit to that place the following week.
Types of places and themes are varied and are primarily in Dorset but we also venture out to the Hampshire/Wiltshire borders.
Our group sometimes has the advantage of entry to places not always open to the public.
We meet on Wednesday mornings with one week “in” at the Town Hall and one week “out” at the chosen venue.
The “out” days are active days, risking the weather and can stretch into the afternoon.
These are also social days, where we find a modest place for lunch together on our travels.
Mobility and acceptance of some admission charges are required.
