This is a most enjoyable session in which the members have
all bonded well. It’s a great social occasion and there’s always plenty of cheerful chatter.
Meetings are on the first and third week of the month.
The Leader says: ‘I’m trying hard to make our meetings as varied and as interesting as possible and from the positive feedback received it appears I must be doing something right.’
At the end of each meeting I set a challenge for members to work on at home.
A travel article, a childhood memory, dialogue only story, a humorous poem and a Christmas story are amongst those attempted so far.
At the next meeting we each read our piece to the group and comments, discussion and suggestions follow.
I’m always amazed at the variety of ideas produced from one title suggestion.
We’re just about to start on a ‘Round Robin’.
I’ve written the first chapter of a story then each member in turn will take it up and write their own chapter in their own way.
We’ll each write an ending and the most
popular one will be chosen.
Should be interesting.
On a personal note I’ve enjoyed so much meeting with this lovely group of people and I find that I am learning from them.- As the old saying goes “the teachers learn and the learners teach”.
I think we are all finding fulfilment and satisfaction in discovering that we still have so much to offer.
“The meetings are so much nicer than I expected - everyone is friendly and helpful.”
“A vibrant and interactive session each week.”
“An inspiring group - I am so lucky.”
“It’s made me get down to writing
instead of just thinking about it.”
We always stop for coffee and biscuits halfway through and everyone gets up to date with their news; then we return to the task until it’s time to go. The two hours go so quickly and we’re all sorry when it’s over.
