Book Club: Thursday morning, 10:00 am to 12 noon
There are three groups which meet on a three-week rota
in Members’ homes.
Book groups are an interesting phenomenon because it is such a fast track way of getting to know people. It may take years of gradual friendship to know things about your friend which you can discover very quickly in a debating forum. Well chosen books (we take it in turns) will reveal the individual’s world view, moral outlook, philosophy, personal bugbears and a plethora of likes and dislikes though we all agree the biscuits must be chocolate.
Some members are inveterate and knowledgeable readers, others less so therefore the books are an eclectic mix including some from Richard and Judy’s list, good contemporary fiction and classics of English literature
Currently all the members are ideal readers as they are open to new ideas and experiences and are unafraid to reveal themselves to others in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere.
The groups intend to have a Summer lunch party and other social delights as they occur to Members.
