This course deals with all aspects of Astronomy.  Topics covered include some basics, the History of Astronomy to 1900, instruments and observing techniques, the solar system, the sun, stars, galaxies and cosmology ( including the origin of the Universe).

The presentation is informal, with use made of overhead projections, slides, models and astronomical equipment.  

Weather permitting, observations of the sun (using safe filters) and Venus are made.

Active participation by members is encouraged and extra items suggested by them are welcomed.
